COVID-19: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has asked the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) and the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) to ensure that real estate companies get all their construction workers vaccinated as soon as possible. The vaccinations should be paid for by the companies, the ministry stated.
Elaborating on the steps taken by the ministry to safeguard the health of construction workers, MoHUA Secretary, Durga Shankar Mishra said that they would ensure that all labourers working on central projects like the new Parliament building, Central Vista Avenue, and so on, are trained in, and follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and protocols.
In addition to the industry bodies, the ministry’s own Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and the National Buildings Construction Corporation India Limited (NBCC) have been asked to implement the COVID-19 vaccination programme.
