Agriculture: The Odisha government transferred INR 1,272 crore to 53 lakh farmers across the state, under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme. The beneficiaries include 37 lakh small and marginal farmers, and 16 lakh landless agricultural labourers.
According to the chief minister’s office, each farmer will receive between INR 2,000-5,000 directly in their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode, depending on their status as a small and marginal farmer, or landless labourer.
The state government had promised Rs 10,000 per farmer under the KALIA scheme. However, it reduced this to INR 4,000 since the farmers became eligible to receive INR 6,000 under the central government’s PM-KISAN scheme. Landless labourers who are not eligible under the PM-KISAN scheme will continue to receive the originally promised INR 12,500.
