Health: Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Santosh Gangwar launched the convergence of the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme with Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. This will allow 1.35 crore insured workers and their dependent family members to access cashless medical care services at hospitals empanelled with Ayushman Bharat, without any referral.
Beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat will now be able to avail cashless treatment at 15 underutilised Employees’ State Insurance Corporation ESIC hospitals and medical colleges in Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh
The convergence will initially be effective in 113 designated districts, where medical care infrastructure under the ESI Scheme is not available, in states such as Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
