Advocacy & Government: The Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) has invited proposals for research projects on the welfare and development of women and children. These proposals can be submitted at the women and child development grant-in-aid portal or via email.
Findings from these studies will be included in the WCD ministry’s action plans to improve female participation in economic activities, among other issues.
The indicative list of focus areas and/or themes includes:
1. Female labour force participation trends, drivers, and barriers.
2. Economic development versus economically active women: Determinants of low female labour force participation rate (FLFPR).
3. Wage differentials per capita economic productivity and comparison of males and females in overall economic productivity across different sectors of economy.
4. Sector-wise participation of women in economy, provision of social security, leave, wages, working conditions, pensions, health benefits, maternity benefits, housing, child care, and so on.
5. Assessment of gender sensitivity in labour market: Challenges and ways for building women friendly environment.
6. Rural and urban differentials in economically active female population.
7. Women empowerment in agriculture and role of women in agriculture.
8. Mapping and quantifying contribution of unpaid work of women in various fields.
9. Barriers of underrepresentation of women as senior officials.
10. Migrant women in labour market opportunities, risks, wages, working conditions, health hazards, insurance, safety, maternity, child care, and so on.
The grant-in-aid for these projects will be made available under the ministry’s Research, Publication and Monitoring scheme to institutions, universities, voluntary organisations, and nonprofits registered with NGO Darpan—a portal maintained by government think tank NITI Aayog.
