Pranjal Baruah is the general secretary of Mushroom Development Foundation (MDF), which he co-founded in 1996. MDF collaborates with institutes all over the world to make mushroom cultivation a sustainable source of livelihood for farmers, especially women, in states such as Assam, Meghalaya, and West Bengal, as well as outside India. Pranjal was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship in 2003 and, over the years, has won many national and international awards for his work.
