Suvarna Sunil Gokhale
Suvarna Sunil Gokhale heads the Stree Shakti Grameen department of Jnana Prabodhini. A postgraduate with more than 30 years of experience in working with rural women, she and her team of women volunteers have mobilised over 4,000 women from 100 villages under the SHG movement. The activities include design and implementing initiatives in livelihood, informal education of adolescent girls on health-related topics, and vocational education and sports. Suvarna has written extensively on women empowerment in leading Marathi newspapers.
